There are more than 25 countries which has two names,India is one of the country which cites this list with names India and Bharat.
India is a land of seekers so peoples are curious about every thing.India is official name and Bharat is cultural name.
So here is the answer..
How name India exists???
Iranians and Greeks who came through northwest about 2500 years ago,were familiar with the river called Indus called it Indos or Hindos.
Later it becomes India,one can say name comes from river Indus.
How name Bharat exists???
Many thinks the name comes from King Bharat,brother of Lord Ram,but it's not true.
It is mentioned in the Rigveda,the earliest composition in Sanskrit,dated to be about 3500 years ago that name Bharat was used for the group of peoples who lived in the northwest.
Why the name Bharat used for group of peoples,one must question.So here is the answer.
There was a King name Bharat,son of King Dushyant,known to be very powerful and wise.
He has stretched it boundaries to a large extent.The very well known great fighter name Bhism or Devrat was from his lineage.
So, the peoples of his kingdom known as Bharatvansi and later this name Bharat comes into exists.
